Maison et Objet Show Paris 2014

Posted on March 1, 2014

Earlier this year Blair and Maria decided to go to the Maison et Objet Show in Paris. Unimaginably large, it is one of the largest trade shows for home design in the world.

Maison et Objet Paris is the biggest show we’ve been to yet, even beating out the 5 million square feet Vegas Market, North America’s most comprehensive furniture & home décor. Incredibly inspiring, there were exhibitors from around the world. Some of the common themes that we saw there were:

  • a return to lighter stained solid wood furniture
  • a move away from the exotic veneers that have dominated over the past few years
  • a greater focus on smaller artisanal product versus Asian mass production
  • overall a more organic natural ‘look’ in terms of materials and palette

We even found a new supplier! Beautifully hand moulded and finished resin pieces from the San Francisco artist Tina Frey. We will have her pieces by the beginning of July.
