Our 12,000 Sq foot Showroom

It’s a pleasure to make your home a tasteful expression of your personal style at Creative Home Furnishings. The showroom has been providing the local community (Coquitlam, Tri Cities, Vancouver, North Shore) and beyond, with the finest in solid wood furniture since 1989. Within our 12,000 square foot space you will find contemporary solid wood furniture made by Canadian craftsmen, the majority of our product is made within a 100 km radius of us. We also specialize in Custom Design (some examples), and have our own exclusive, in-house designed lines of furniture - Boxwood, Tangent, Chesterman and Cypress.

Our Product

Our furniture is locally made and built to order. A number of the woodworkers who supply us are able to make custom modifications to ensure that our pieces will fit your space. Tasteful accessories, great lighting fixtures, select print and original artwork complete our décor selection. Our focus is in providing versatile furnishings, which suit the spaces and needs of both condo and house owners alike.

Our lines appeal to a wide range of clientele, and it’s not unusual to have customers who have purchased pieces in the past return, because they are downsizing and need smaller scale furniture without sacrificing quality and style. Nor to have their grown children come to furnish their own apartments or family homes. This is all because variety and quality are important parts of this showroom’s approach to individualized interiors.

Our Service

We provide a very high level of customer service. Our staff have a passion for design and are able to provide in-house consultations to assist you in creating your perfect home. Whether you need guidance with choosing colour palettes, appropriate sized pieces for your space and lifestyle, or a sounding board for your style decisions, we are here for you. Our service even extends to designing custom pieces which can meet your unique needs, such as stereo cabinets to fit your components, or a buffet to fit an alcove.

Our Philosophy

We believe in fair pricing all year round. Our pricing is very competitive so that you can feel comfortable making your purchases whenever you need to, and not just when there is a "sale". We don't believe in hiking up the pricing, so that we can run seasonal blanket discounts. In fact with the exception of sometimes discounting floor models in order to bring in new display pieces, we don't actually run sales. If for some reason you do manage to find pricing that is lower than ours on product that we carry, then we encourage you to bring in a written quote, and we will try our best to price match or even beat the pricing.

Our focus on locally made furniture helps to maintain a smaller environmental footprint, and enhances our eco-focus. Made from materials such as western maple, and utilizing low VOC finishes, our furniture lines promote environmental responsibility. Our collection contains furniture for your entire home, from dining tables and chairs to sofas, occasional tables and bedroom suites.

Us

The owners Maria Lopez and Blair Ballard, have a passion for great design. Their combined education in engineering and architecture were able to come into play when they not only renovated an existing house to create a bed and breakfast, but also designed and built a new house on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast. While building the new home, they were able to incorporate the wood that was cleared from the lot, into some of the design features of the home. This experience served as inspiration to take on a larger enterprise where creativity is key.

Maria and Blair purchased Creative Home Furnishings in 2007. They saw the store as an opportunity to meld their passion for great design with their love of locally built product. In a world where so much of what we buy is mass produced, it becomes a challenge to find something that is made with care. The Boxwood and Tangent collections are the initial results of this quest: the clean designs, strong lines and solid construction evoke the vernacular of the westcoast, and the cultures which have influenced it.

They know what it takes to create a home, and their previous careers in hospitality have given them a strong customer service focus.
